What We Do

Thomas LLC specializes in editorial and writing services, speechwriting, and other strategic communications services. We work with a variety of organizations and leaders to help tell their stories that resonate and stick with audiences. Our practice includes:

  • Editorial and Writing Services - if it can be written, we write it: reports, research papers, issue briefs, op-eds, articles, web content, biographies, profiles, ghostwriting, and more.
  • Speechwriting - we provide the full suite of highly-tailored speechwriting support, from research to writing to revising to rehearsing, so you can deliver your message confidently and clearly.
  • Communications assessments - we can help you better understand who you are reaching with your communications, who you need to be reaching, and how you can address any gaps that might exist between the two.

Who We Are

Our Story

Thomas LLC grew out of 15 years of working in politics, nonprofits, and philanthropy, and the sense that there is always a way to communicate more effectively and tell a sharper, simpler story.

I am a solo consultant and writer, but I have a network of partners and collaborators – researchers, evaluators, designers, communicators and more – who I regularly engage with and rely on to help bring the best customized approaches to our work.

That’s in part why I started Thomas LLC, to partner with smart, talented people. It’s been a fortunate part of my work for more than a decade and a half, as a speechwriter, political operative, nonprofit communicator, and foundation program officer. And that experience across different sectors gives me unique perspective and insight to help you tell your story.

About Scott

Is it more or less awkward if I refer to myself in the third person for this part? More? Ok, first person it is then.

I am a consultant, writer, biker, and supervisor of two large yellow dogs. I live with my wife in Denver, CO, where I also serve on the board of a local community bike shop and am a contributing writer for 303Cycling News. I am also currently partnering with the Center for Evaluation Innovation as a senior consultant.

Previously, I served as the Senior Program Officer at The Colorado Trust, where I oversaw $20 million in grant programs primarily focused on health policy and advocacy, public engagement, and capacity building. Prior to that, I was the Communications Director for the Colorado Center on Law and Policy and Colorado Fiscal Policy Institute. I have held a number of key roles in local, state and national political campaigns, including working with two governors, Congressional offices, and a national campaign committee - including as a campaign manager, communications director, press secretary, policy analyst, and speechwriter.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame in government and international studies, I have served on the board of an innovative early learning and enrichment organization for six years, and completed the Leadership Denver program with the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce.
